Bankruptcy Guide: Chapter 13

What is Chapter 13 Bankruptcy?

Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, also known as wage earner bankruptcy, is a plan wherein individuals with a regular income can develop a plan to repay their debt. It does not discharge the debt. Installments are generally made over three to five years. There are various strategies to consider in filing Chapter 13 but one of the more appealing is that it typically will stop the foreclosure process on an individual's home. The individual will be given a chance to cure the delinquent payments.

As with all bankruptcy proceedings, strict rules and regulations apply to determine who is eligible for Chapter 13.
