An appeal is a proceeding in which a higher court reviews the actions taken by a lower court. An appeal is not a retrial or reharing. New evidence cannot be introduced.
The reviewing court can reverse a decision only if the trial judge made a serious mistake in applying the law.
Small Claims are the exception. These appeals are scheduled for a new trial.
Limited Civil and Small Claims appeals are filed within 30 calendar days from the date of mailing of the Notice of Entry of Judgment. Check the Court website for details. There are fees to file an Appeal.
