Regulations

Administrative agencies are created by the legislative branch of both federal and state governments by statute. Although created by legislature, administrative agencies fall under the umbrella of the executive branch. Regulations are the rules adopted under the authority granted by a statute. Regulations can be issued by a municipal, county, state, or federal agency.

Federal Regulations

The Office of the Federal Register provides access to the official text of federal laws, Presidential documents, Administrative regulations, and more. The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) is a codification, or arrangement, of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government. The United States Code of Federal Regulations can be found here.

California Code of Regulations

The California Office of Administrative Law (OAL) ensures that agency regulations are clear, necessary, legally valid, and available to the public. OAL is responsible for reviewing administrative regulations, proposed by over 200 state agencies, for compliance with the standards set forth in California's Administrative Procedure Act (APA), for transmitting these regulations to the Secretary of State, and for publishing regulations in the Code of Regulations.

The California Code of Regulations can be found online here.
